I had been mulling over getting a “proper” camera for years. It’s hard to justify such an expensive purchase when you’re in school and also don’t actually know how to use a camera. I instead settled for my cellphone camera and a hand-me-down compact camera (which was incredibly decent!). However, after several life transitions and some form of financial stability - as stable as you can be when lettuce is $10 - I finally took the plunge and got the Fujifilm X-T30ii in 2023.
My main lens is Fujinon 23mm f2. I’ll see how far I can go with this because it’s supposed to be pretty versatile. I’m trying to minimize those accumulating gear purchases that inevitably occur with new hobbies. I did get the Rokinon 12mm f2 for cheap off eBay because it's supposed to be good for astrophotography, though I haven't really had the chance to fully test it out yet. I also have my eye on the Fujinon 27mm f2 pancake lens but that's been out of stock for a while. I guess it must be a really good lens. I’ll figure out what other lenses I need as I do more and learn more.
I don’t have a specific focus right now, I just want to try it all. I don’t have any grand aspirations for my photography other than to see the world in a different way.
